Fabric Protection
Dry soil is your carpet's worst enemy, because it is abrasive to carpet fibers like sandpaper is to wood. That's why vacuuming is the number one thing to be done to prolong the life of your
carpet... it helps to remove the dry, abrasive soil.
A good fabric protector does the same thing as a non-stick cooking pan... it prevents sticking. So, if it's on your carpet fibers, it helps to make them release soil when you vacuum, in addition to helping to slow the absorption of potential stains, so that you can get them up fast.
We at Cherokee offer the very best fabric protection, along with the best guarantee in the area.
If your carpet, upholstery or drapes are treated with our fabric protector, we give you a full 1 year warranty against spots and spills; not that they won’t happen, but if they do, the spot or spill will come up with a wet wash cloth. If you are unable to remove the spot, we will come out and try to remove the spot for you:
free of charge for a whole year!
Pretty Cool...Huh!
QUALITY
Companies vary in quality in so many ways it can be hard to compare. But the truth is, when we invest wisely we get what we pay for.
We at Cherokee cannot fix everything but we will tell you upfront what we can do. Because our service is designed to be the most thorough, it is not for everybody.
If all you want is a quick brush-the-dirt-off-the-carpet cleaning, please call someone else. There are others that can do that for you.
Our method will give you the most thorough cleaning... EVER!

IS YOUR FAMILY’S HEALTH AT RISK?
Important facts you should know about your indoor air quality and your family’s health:
FACT: 50% of all illnesses are caused by, or aggravated by polluted indoor air.
FACT: Most fiberglass furnace filters are less than 7% efficient.
FACT: The level of some hazardous pollutants in indoor air are up to 70 times greater than outdoor air.
FACT: One in six allergy conditions are caused by fungi and bacteria in the air duct system.
FACT: Children are more likely than adults to be affected by polluted indoor air.
BREATHE CLEAN AIR...FOR A CHANGE
Recent studies discovered that air quality in 19 out of 20 homes is considerably more polluted than the air found in most major cities.
Your air system plays host to a variety of pollutants such as bacteria, animal hair, pollen, plant spores, dust, smoke, mold, and dust mites.
Your maze of air ducts, vents and heating and cooling systems designed to make your home comfortable may, in fact, be making you uncomfortable or even sick. Because they are built to be “energy efficient”, polluted air is “trapped” inside and is being recycled over and over through your heating and air conditioning system.
Got Carpet? No Doubt You’ll Have Spots.
It is inevitable. You have carpet, you’ll have spots. Use the wrong product and you may end up buying throw rugs to cover up your mistakes. Stain resistant carpets are designed to repel most stains, giving you an opportunity to remove the spill before it becomes permanent.
There are many substances that can permanently stain a carpet, regardless of how fast you are able to clean up a spill. The types of spills that can leave a permanent stain are: pet urine, vomit, coffee, tea, and mustard to name few. Not coincidentally, these are also staining substances that are not covered under most manufactures warranties.
So, what to do when little Tommy or man’s best friend messes up your beautiful carpet? Using a product not formulated for carpeting can permanently “set” a stain that otherwise would come out. Many household cleaners also contain bleach and lye, chemicals that can take the color right out of your carpeting.
The first thing to do is remove any excess material from the carpet by blotting or with a shop vac. Work towards the center of the stain, so as to prevent further spreading. Do not rub excessively or use a brush. Permanent fiber distortion can result. If the staining material is water based, dampen a sponge and rinse the area.
Next, take a white towel, only use a colored towel if it has been washed several times, and blot up as much moisture as possible. Try standing on it.
If there is still spot, you may need to use our spot out carpet spotter. Don’t have a bottle? Give our office a call and we will deliver a FREE bottle to your door.
If the material spilled on the carpeting is petroleum or solvent based, such as, grease, gum, nail polish, paint, glue and wax to name a few, the directions above will not work. Removing materials such as these can be tricky. Please call our office and we’ll be happy to give you advice.
Anything strong enough to remove them can also dissolve the glue that attaches your carpet fibers to the backing! So be careful!

The Importance of Proper Vacuuming
Proper vacuuming is by far the most important step in maintaining your carpet. Today’s carpets are engineered from the fiber up to hide soil. A tan, residential carpet can hide a pound of soil per square yard before it becomes noticeably soiled.
All that grit and grime can work like tiny razorblades, slicing and dicing your carpet fibers, causing them to quickly lose that “new” shimmer and taking years off their life. Carpets that are regularly vacuumed will wear longer and are less likely to contribute to indoor air pollution.
So, what is proper vacuuming? You cannot wear out your carpet by vacuuming too much. Manufacturers recommend vacuuming at least 3 times a week. For those of us who live in the real world, once a week is sufficient if you do it right.
Proper vacuuming consists of going over the carpet in the same spot at least three times in one direction and turning 90 degrees to repeat the process. A fast pass over your carpet as if you were mowing the lawn won’t cut it. You must make slow passes to allow your vacuum cleaner to work.
You shouldn’t attempt to vacuum your carpet with a vacuum cleaner that is in poor condition. You don’t need to run out and buy the most expensive vacuum cleaner on the market. A good vacuum cleaner with all the necessary tools can be purchased for under $200.00.
We realize vacuuming is not everyone’s favorite thing to do. When you think of it as helping to remove the grit and grime, dust mites, hair, pollen and other nasty things that collect in your carpet, it seems a lot more important. Besides the benefit of a healthier, longer wearing carpet, you are getting a good aerobic workout.

Dry Carpet Cleaning or Truck Mounted Hot Water Extraction Cleaning?
Truck mounted hot water extraction is a restorative carpet cleaning process. Encapsulating dry foam carpet cleaning is a maintenance carpet cleaning system. These two cleaning method used together are the most cost effective way to always have clean carpets.
When a carpet looks dirty it is very dirty. Millions of dollars have been spent on research to create carpet fibers that hide dirt as long as possible. Carpets should be cleaned not because they look dirty but because regular cleaning of your carpet is like changing the oil in your car. It removes the abrasive that wear the fibers causing the carpet to dull out.
Residential carpets that are visibly soiled or stained should be cleaned with the truck mounted hot water extraction method. This is a restorative carpet cleaning method and is the most thorough and costly type of cleaning.
Encapsulating dry foam carpet cleaning is a maintenance cleaning process that is faster and thus less expensive then hot water extraction cleaning. Most commercial carpets respond better to the encapsulating dry foam carpet cleaning process then to the truck mounted hot water extraction cleaning.
It is possible to never have dirty carpets again. With the right maintenance your carpets can stay clean all the time cost effectively.
The first step is to get the carpets as clean as possible and then protected with a very good protector like Scotch Guard or Dupont Teflon.
The Floor Cleaning Experts full restoration carpet cleaning is a 12 step process following the standards set by the IICRC. Pre-Inspection, pre-vacuum, furniture moving, pre-condition & spot treatments, Pre-grooming, truck mount extraction, neutralize, post spot treatments, Teflon carpet protector, speed dry, post groom, and post inspection. We offer this complete service for one price with no additional charges. This will get the carpet as clean as it can get.
Once the carpet has been restored to a clean and healthy state it can be kept there by servicing your vacuum and using it regularly. Vacuuming regularly with a clean strong vacuum is the best way to keep damaging abrasive dirt from building up in your carpets.
Encapsulating dry foam carpet cleaning is a great way to keep your carpets clean after they have been restored. Dry foam cleaning is very efficient and effective when combined with regular vacuuming with a well serviced strong vacuum cleaner.
The encapsulating detergent absorb the dirt and detergent residue and then drys to a hard brittle crystal when it drys. This crystal shatters under traffic and vacuuming and the dirt and detergent residue are removed with the vacuum. Dry foam cleaning is fast and less then half the price of hot water extraction cleaning but is a maintenance cleaning process so it needs to be done regularly with the frequency depending on the carpets traffic.

The EPA has stated: “Dirty carpet and dirty air ducts can be a serious health threat”
Dr. Michael Berry, Director of the Environmental Protection Agency, has stated that “carpeting, fabrics and air handling systems not cleaned and properly maintained have the potential to cause a variety of health problems”
Some of the health risks are: illnesses due to the build up of bacteria, germs, viruses, dust mites, pollutants and allergy-causing agents that accumulate in carpet, upholstery and air ducts that have not been cleaned. These pollutants are a serious threat to anyone who is exposed and a very real threat to the very young, the elderly and those combating an illness.
Positive steps should be taken to remove or control the build-up of these potentially dangerous indoor pollutants. A variety of health problems have been traced to the unclean environment associated with dirty carpet and ducts.
These include:
1. Allergies of various kinds.
2. Respiratory problems.
3. Asthma
4. Eye infections.
In conclusion, it is advised that consumers must not wait until the home visibly soiled before cleaning. A clean indoor environment plays a significant role in the health of the occupants.
